7th - 24th JUNE 2026

Complete GREAT BRITAIN

Overview

At 18 days in length, and covering large swathes of all three countries, our tour Great Britain is our biggest and grandest tour of all! It is a journey that will show you the full variety on offer on this relatively small, yet wonderfully diverse island in the North East Atlantic. On the journey, riders will view some of the very best of the UK's National Park- from the Eryri (Snowdonia) to the Cairngorms, the Lake District to the South Downs, and the Yorkshire Dales to the Norfolk Broads.

But there is more to these places than the wonderful riding routes and delightful scenery. Our journey takes us to quintessentially British villages, towns and cities for a look at life in some of the UKs oldest establishments- York and Ambleside, to Stirling and Berwick and Caernarfon. We have also factored in 3 rest days to ensure there is the opportunity to stretch your legs and explore a little deeper into some area. These rest days are in the Lake District, Stirling, and Cambridge and are typically every 5 days of riding or so.

Our route takes us up through the western side- initially through Wales, Cumbria and Western Scotland, and then back down the eastern edge of Great Britain. Our days are full, yet relaxed and we stay in comfortable accommodation. A great tour for those with a good amount of time to spend exploring and taking in the wonders on offer of this incredible island.....

We congregate at our hotel and have a introductory session on the up coming tour and getting to know each other.

You leave Dorking to the west, head down through the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and into northern edge of the South Downs National Park. A lovely road west takes you through small towns and villages before you reach Winchester. In the afternoon, your route turns north west, through lovely countryside before reaching Cirencester. It is then a short ride through the southern regions of the Cotswolds and to your accommodation for the evening.

In the morning, we head out to the west and are quickly into Wales and the Brecon Beacons National Park. We take a small detour to visit Llathony Priory in a quiet valley before continuing on through the mountains. Later on in the day, the mountains give way to open countryside as we progress towards the far south west of Wales, stopping for a little wander around an ancient castle located on the banks of a small river, before a short ride into our home for the evening.

We trace the coastline today, running all the way from south west Wales to the north west of the country. In doing so, we pass through the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, past Cardigan and Aberywstwyth and eventually into the mountains of Snowdonia. A stop in a truly bizarre seaside town, followed by a beautiful route along the coast brings us into Caernarfon where we have some time to relax and explore one of Wales most well-known and ancient towns.

We take a convoluted route today, starting with a lovely mountainous route through Snowdonia before a quick hop onto the island of Anglesea for some seaviews and a stop at another impressive castle in the beachside town of Beaumaris. It is then back onto the mainland a route through rural north Wales and into Chester for the afternoon to take a wander round this old city with plentiful history.

Now back into England, we head east initially to pick up the scenic route northwards through the Peak District and onwards to the Yorkshire Dales, before turning back westwards and crossing into the county of Cumbria and the Lake District, where our accommodation for the next couple of evenings is located- Windermere.

Take it easy by the lake, amble around the town, or head out for a leisurely ride around the lakes, stopping plenty of times for some photos, a cup of tea, or simply to take in the magnificent surroundings.

You leave Windermere and take a scenic route north through the Lake District. Emerging from the mountains, you cross into Scotland near Gretna Green and then turn westwards towards Dumfries and head up through Galoway Forest Park before arriving into Ayr for the evening.

Your morning ride takes us up the coastline of Ayrshire and towards Glasgow. Before getting to the city, you turn off and continue northwards towards the mountains and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Having stopped at Tyndrum, you continue on the route towards Glen Coe with lovely far reaching, magnificent views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Dropping down out of the mountain route, you finish off with another coastal route into our accommodation.

The first part of your day takes you on a lovely route past numerous lochs and mountains whilst following a route towards the Isle of Skye. However, before you get there, you'll turn northwards and pick up a beautiful, quiet route on smaller roads that takes you through some truly wild areas, sometimes climbing up to some high points with wonderful views, and at other times riding right next to the shore line. You pull into Ullapool later on in the afternoon ready for some rest and a wander round this seaside town.

Continuing on remote roads with few settlements, you spend the morning following sections of the NC500 all the way to the northern coast of Scotland and along to Tongue for a stop in this quaint little village. You then start the journey back south via an inland route to Lairg, onwards to Dingwall and eventually into Inverness for the evening.

Now firmly on the route south, we pass through the Cairngorms National Park, and hopefully (weather permitting), get some lovely views of the rolling mountains of the region. We take the opportunity to stop by a very unusual Scottish castle mid-way through the day before continuing on through the hills and into Stirling for the evening.

Spend a little time exploring Stirling- the medieval, old capital of Scotland with its dominant castle and Wallace monument. Alternatively, head out for a circular ride to the east where you will visit St Andrews- the home of golf and Scotland's most prestigious university, or take a ride to Edinburgh and spend a few hours taking in the sights of this incredible city.

Today is a shorter day, stopping off for a couple of visits to Falkirk and a whistle-stop tour of Edinburgh in the morning and early afternoon and then picking up some lovely coastal routes down through South East Scotland before stopping just over the border in England in Bamburgh.

Setting off, our morning route heads inland and south through Northumberland National Park and skirts down the eastern region of the North Pennines National Landscape. We then head back towards the coast and through Middlesbrough before a lovely path through the North York Moors National Park. A rural, quiet route past the Howardian Hills National Landscape brings us into the delightful city of York for the evening.

Continuing in a southerly direction, we cross the Humber bridge early on in the day and take a delightful route through the gently rolling Lincolnshire Wolds. After lunch, we continue through into Cambridgeshire and take a rural route past open countryside into Cambridge. An early arrival after a slightly shorter day allows for us to head out and explore a little of this world-famous university city.

Spend the day taking in the architecture of the various colleges of Cambridge University, go punting down the river Cam, or head out on a big ride around the north Norfolk coastline and back through the flatlands of East Anglia!

Our final day of the tour is a delightfully relaxing one, with not too many miles to go! We head south into Essex via some quieter rural routes, past some quintessentially English villages with beautifully preserved architecture. Making our way over the Thames river, we pick up a final westerly route along the North Downs and back into Dorking to say our farewells..... until the next tour!

FAQs

This tour is for anyone interested in seeing the full extent of the UK- from the rural small coastal towns and villages of the south west, to the remoteness of the far north of Scotland and everything in between. Being our longest tour at 18 days, it is suitable for those who have more time to really cover some miles and see the variety on offer on this magical Island, but is of course open to all!

This tour is for all- the routes and the distances generally manageable for all riders!

All routes are paved and generally of very good quality. In terms of the type road size, we mostly avoid motorways (M-Roads) unless we need to make a quick path through an area to get to the more scenic and enjoyable A and B roads, which make up the overwhelming majority of the route.

Although we can never predict the weather, as our tour takes place in the summertime, the conditions are typically warmer and more suitable for riding. However, rain is always a possibility at any time of the year so suitable wet weather gear is highly advised. Self guided and other tours will need receive further planning consultation if they are taking place outside of the main summer season.

We generally stop in local cafes for both mid-morning break and lunch where coffee, soft drinks, cakes, snacks, sandwiches, paninis etc and sometimes hot food will be available. In the afternoon, we typically stop at points of interest or special sights for a shorter amount of time and food/ drink may not always be available.

We stop for mid-morning coffee, lunch, and then again in the mid afternoon. Breaks are typically every 1-2 hours- enough time to enjoy some wonderful roads and delightful scenery and then chat about them with the group!

The tour does involve some walking at some of the stops to make it to the scenic spots and explore the area. In addition, we cannot guarantee access will be available for those with reduced mobility in all places, so we would advise against joining this tour if you don't feel comfortable with such activities.
