Splendid ENGLAND

Overview

Though it may be a relatively small island in northwest Europe, the UK has some of the most beautiful landscapes to be found anywhere. And many of those can be seen just in one of those countries- England. With a rich heritage and plentiful history, England boasts not only wonderful culture and cuisine, it also has many beautiful natural environments which are a riders dream to cruise through on two wheels.

Our 12 day tour of England starts and finishes near the historic market town of Dorking, located in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. On the journey, we will ride through eight National Parks, several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as National Landscapes, unique scenery and beautiful towns and villages. The journey takes us to all four corners of England, from the  far south west to the mountains of the Lake District in the North, and onwards to the quiet, flat lands of East Anglia.

We typically ride for 4-5.5 hours per day, stopping multiple times to rest, enjoy a some coffee and cake, eat lunch as well as just to take in surroundings and stretch our legs.

This tour is suitable for all, though lends it self to those who have a little longer than a week to spend time exploring the range of environments that the England has on offer. Whether you're a seasoned rider or new to touring, our motorcycle tour of England promises the perfect blend of thrilling routes, iconic landmarks, charming villages, scenic stops, and authentic British experiences.

From here, small country roads lead through to a stop in the capital of the country- Truro. A lovely ride down smaller roads takes us to a traditional fishing village before we finish off with a final leg to St Ives.

Making our way north, we cross the beautiful Cornish Landscape then follow the main route along the coast to Barnstaple for a stop. Continuing north, we ride through a couple more small coastal villages and then Exmoor National Park with its rolling hills and lovely vistas, before we reach our overnight stop in Minehead

FAQs

This tour is for anyone interested in exploring England in more detail - from old, rural towns and villages, to the beauty of the mountains of the Lake District and the coastal regions of East Anglia. It is one of our mid-length tours and therefore may appeal to those with a little more time to explore or those who want to tag a motorcycle tour onto a bigger trip but is of course open to all!

This tour is for all- the routes and the distances generally manageable for all riders!

All routes are paved and generally of very good quality. In terms of the type road size, we mostly avoid motorways (M-Roads) unless we need to make a quick path through an area to get to the more scenic and enjoyable A and B roads, which make up the overwhelming majority of the route.

Although we can never predict the weather, as our tour takes place in the summertime, the conditions are typically warmer and more suitable for riding. However, rain is always a possibility at any time of the year so suitable wet weather gear is highly advised. Self guided and other tours will need receive further planning consultation if they are taking place outside of the main summer season.

We generally stop in local cafes for both mid-morning break and lunch where coffee, soft drinks, cakes, snacks, sandwiches, paninis etc and sometimes hot food will be available. In the afternoon, we typically stop at points of interest or special sights for a shorter amount of time and food/ drink may not always be available.

We stop for mid-morning coffee, lunch, and then again in the mid afternoon. Breaks are typically every 1-2 hours- enough time to enjoy some wonderful roads and delightful scenery and then chat about them with the group!

The tour does involve some walking at some of the stops to make it to the scenic spots and explore the area. In addition, we cannot guarantee access will be available for those with reduced mobility in all places, so we would advise against joining this tour if you don't feel comfortable with such activities.
