We don't have the biggest mountains, the longest roads, the greatest number of switchbacks or the largest national parks..... so why bother with the UK for a motorcycle tour, some would ask?
Well, the mountains may not be the largest, but they are some of the most majestic- what could beat the glens of Scotland, with their steep sides climbing up to dramatic peaks, steeped in thousands of years of history and plentiful legend to go with them? Or how about Snowdonia, where Edmund Hillary trained for the first ever Ascent of Everest and where the mountains range from gentle walks to serious climbs, and home to the National Outdoor Centre of the UK.
Then again, we cant forget the Lake District in England, with the fells (mountains/ large hills), and bodies of water (we chose to say this specifically.....!) combining to give a magical sense of timeless beauty.... where the modern world seems to have been kept away and endless small routes allow us to feel as though we can all gain some calm and solitude.
If its a more gentle scenery that you're after, alongside the 15 National Parks the UK has 46 National Landscapes (previously known as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty), which are noteworthy not just for their natural beauty, but also for their significant cultural and architectural value.
Then there are the villages, towns and cities- home to both impressive modern buildings as well and traditional ones from various time periods of the past. Lets also not forget about the stately homes, castles, palaces, canals, lock systems, museums, bridges and other works of engineering and architectural wonder which are scattered throughout these small, yet magical British Isles.
Crucially, both within and between these locations lie countless motorcycling routes, with roads down narrow country lanes taking a slower and more relaxed pace, and bigger routes with longer sweeping bends allowing for us to pick up a little more speed and take in the wonderful sights and smells of the Great British countryside.
And once you're done riding for the day, there is always a cosy pub to welcome the weary ridders dotted in every village and town throughout the land, many with their own extensive history and unique stories to tell, and no doubt many a wholesome meal to be served to go alongside a pint of the local ale, possibly accompanied by a local whole will regale you with a tale or two....
So if you fancy experiencing a little of what the UK has to offer, book onto a Kudu Motorcycle Tour and come and ride this wonderful isles for yourself!
